1 - Leeds Gryphons B

It’s no secret that Gryphs B were a force to be reckoned with this season, sweeping non-checking 2 North with only one loss (which was to Hull.) Awarding them the first spot in the rankings. With multiple players averaging 2 to 3 points per game we’re sure these guys will bring the firepower to hold on to their Tier 2 title!

2 - Hull Ice Hogs

Just sneaking in behind Leeds in this ranking and in non-checking 2 North we have the hogs. Clegg-less but still strong, nonetheless, with Good and Harris leading the team in points as well as many other players in the squad scoring plenty of points this season - as always, these guys will be the ones to watch at nationals. Tigi Togi!

3 - Kent Knights

This year Kent join us in Tier 2 coming off the back of a successful season as they return to the cup competition finishing second in N-CHK 2 South and have been the dealers of some very high score lines throughout. They also wear the ‘We beat Vikings B yippee!’ badge which is a big achievement to be honest. With a goal difference of +100 and their top point scorer GONZALEZA TENJO scoring 63 points in 11 games (yes, SIXTY-THREE) and Rattan with 56 points in 12 games - These knights will be sure to battle their way through nationals.

4 - Warwick and Coventry Panthers

Another team returning to the cup comp after appearing at nationals last season is the Warwick Coventry Panthers. Once again, these guys have a couple of players with a ridiculous point per game average, notably Hunt who was 45 points in 9 games. They ended their season 3rd in N-CHK 2 South, and with a relatively strong looking squad, we hope to see them do well at this year’s tournament.

5 - Imperial Devils B

Landing the middle spot in Tier 2 we have Devils B! Being promoted from Tier 3 this year and having a pretty average season with a pretty average looking squad! Which has landed them… a pretty average spot in the rankings!

6 - Sheffield Bears E

The champs of Tier 3 last year see the Bears E earn a promotion to tier 2. They have had mostly losses in N-CHK 2 North and finished behind their slightly more successful big brother Bears D in the table. The team have also competed in various challenge games with a very mixed squad and very mixed results each time causing them a lower spot in the rankings.

7 - Manchester Metros C

The Metros C also see themselves earn a promotion after being the runners up in Tier 3 last year. Being one of three teams in this tier that haven’t competed in the cup competition this season, Metros C have so far been undefeated in challenge games (3 of these being against Leeds C, Keeping the war of the roses dream alive I see!). This will be a big step up for these guys but with their net minder, Frewin with 0.95 save percentage and many players with a multiple point per game averages, I am sure the Metros C will step up to the challenge.

8 - Southampton Spitfires C

These guys have had an interesting season to say the least and I am hoping for an interesting outing at Nationals to go along with it. With a goal differential of -119, I hope the Spitfires C won’t catch any more “flak” (Yes, that’s another plane joke, I’m on a roll) in their hopes for victory and silverware at nationals this year.

9 - UCL Yetis B

Yetis B haven’t had the most successful of seasons coming out of N-CHK 2 South with no wins, however facing teams in similar boats in Tier 2 nationals may bring them a glimmer of hope. With net minders Ji, Newbold-Comyns and Kirubakaran that bring 0.81, 0.69 (nice) and 0.66 save percentages across the season, hopefully this can bring them some strength at this year's nationals.

10 - Newcastle Wildcats B

WHAT TEAM!? No...? Okay then… We see the Wildcats emerge from N-CHK 2 North with no wins and a hefty goal difference of -178. We do have a soft spot for the Wildcats, and we hope to see them do well this National’s. As mentioned above, hopefully being against teams in the same situation gives them a glimmer of hope and a taste for victory. Just as long as they can keep their head in the game!

11 - Birmingham Lions C

Lions C are the second team to join us in Tier 2 that have not competed in the cup competition this season. With only one loss from their challenge games, whatever the Lions will bring to the table will sure be interesting (as it always is, I mean we are talking about the lions). These guys also have a strong net minder between the pipes, the very appropriately named Birmingham, who brings a 0.95 save percentage into the mix.

12 - Nottingham Mavericks E

Mavs E have also not played in a cup competition this season, only playing one challenge game which resulted in a loss back in November. As I don’t have much data for these guys, they sit in last place in the ranking, but I’m hoping they've had plenty of practice since that game in November and bring an improved squad for nationals to prove me wrong - and once again… for old time’s sake… Shoes off!
