Manchester Metros Info
Manchester Metros are the Ice Hockey club for all universities in the North West of England, going strong since 2001.
We welcome members from the University of Manchester, MMU, Salford, UCLan, Lancaster, Bolton and all other Universities and colleges in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, North Staffordshire, Cheshire and North Wales.
We have several ice hockey squads, covering both checking and non-checking hockey, and can cater for the full range of abilities, from junior internationals and league players to absolute beginners.

Manchester Metros
Nationals: 19-20 Tier 1 Cup Comp: 19-20 CHK 2 North
Metros A joined BUIHA competitions in the 2004-05 season, beginning in Division 2. In the first few years the team were nomadic, lacking a home rink. Games were played at Sheffield (both Queens Road and IceSheffield), and then Bradford, before the new rink in Altrincham was completed. The A team moved to Division 1 North in the 2010-11 season after a double victory in the Division 2 Playoff Final and Tier II National Championships in 2010. After several years in Deeside, the team then finally returned to Altrincham in 2016/17 season.
The A team recently played in Division 1 North after promotion from Tier 2 North in 2017/18, after winning the Division title, the Nationals Title and the Playoff title.They now play in Divison 2 North.

Manchester Metros B
Nationals: 19-20 Tier 2 Cup Comp: 19-20 N-CHK 1 North
With a regular training slot close to Manchester, a Metros B team was introduced in 2008, at first competing in Division 3 North and then making the leap to checking hockey in 2009.
The B team have been a regular in Non-Checking Division 1 North since 2014/15.

Manchester Metros C
Nationals: 19-20 Tier 5 Cup Comp: 13-14 N-CHK 1 North
2011 saw the entry of a C team into the 3rd tier National Championships.
This third team then joined the Cup Competitiion in the following season, and competed in the top non-checking division for 2 years.
The C team now acts as a development team for the Metros and regularly enters nationals and plays friendlies with fellow BUIHA development teams.

Manchester University triumph in first-ever Varsity ice hockey game
The University of Manchester (UoM) defeated Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in a highly entertaining goal-fest to win the inaugural Varsity ice hockey game at Altrincham Ice Dome last night.

Manchester prepare for inaugural Varsity
The game between University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan is the first-ever ice hockey Varsity for the club, and will take place at Altrincham Ice Rink on Tuesday 23rd October.
