The Nottingham Universities Mavericks are one of the founding BUIHA league members. We are made up of five teams with players from institutions across the Midlands, including The University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Derby University, Loughborough University and University of Leicester. The most highly-anticipated game of the year, the Nottingham Ice Hockey Varsity, takes place at the end of the season, and sees the team divide in two for a showdown in front of a capacity crowd at the Motorpoint Arena. The Battle of Nottingham, a second stadium-series event, will be taking place at the Motorpoint Arena on February 12th 2019 – tickets on sale to the public. Click here to buy yours now.

After the success of the Nottingham Ice Hockey Varsity we have decided to run a second stadium series event which sees the rivalry of the rivalry between the two Nottingham universities reignited.

Mavericks Skills Session
The Nottingham Mavericks are starting monthly skills sessions.
Tuesday 27th October, 7.30pm-8.30pm, sees the first in a series of skills sessions being delivered across season. The first session has the aims of developing skating technqiues and puck control as well as being competant at these skills under pressure. Maverick's Ice Hockey Camp 2015
For a third successive year the Mavericks will again be running a Pre-Season Camp between the 14th and 18th of September. As usual we would additionally like to welcome players from all BUIHA clubs to attend. Our aim this year is to make the camp bigger and better than ever before. We will be including over 14 hours of on-ice tuition, along with added seminars and additional off-ice activities.

The 2011 Nottingham Varsity
The BIG game is already sold-out and the trash-talk is well underway between the two teams of combatants from Clifton (Trent) and Beeston (Nottm). The season-long friends and team-mates will battle for supremacy on the ice for one night (Monday 21st Feb 2011) only, as the Uni try to keep their winning streak momentum going for the third year of straight wins. Trent still have the upper hand, as the history book records them having won the first four. Yet again, the Poly has the best team on paper, and Uni are without Merv 'Mervinator' Tasker between the pipes, so it's another tough one to call.
