In preparation for the 2019 Winter Universiade, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk - Russia (2-12 March 2019), the BUIHA are seeking to appoint personnel in the following voluntary roles:

    • Team Leaders
    • On-ice Coaches
    • Off-ice Coaches (S&C)
    • Chefs de Equippe

The GBU Men's and Women's ice hockey teams are operated by the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA), and are affiliated to the National Governing Body - Ice Hockey UK (IHUK). Team GBU ice hockey are national representative teams, consisting of British citizens, and who are students, aged over 17 and under 28, studying at level 5 or above (Ofqual framework). GBU work in partnership with British Universities & College Sport (BUCS), to compete in the biennial World University (Winter) Games (WUGs) - also known as the Winter Universiade, organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

The WUGs, is considered globally as being second only to the Olympic Winter Games, and both GBU Men and Women, have competed at this event on multiple occasions over the last decade. The level of opposition is simply world-class, with many players having already represented their respective nations junior national teams, and with some having experience of playing in some of the top leagues in the world, e.g. SM-Liiga, KHL and NHL.

With the above in mind, the BUIHA are seeking to engage with highly self-motivated, dedicated, suitably qualified (minimum IIHF Level 2 ice hockey coaches) and vastly experienced (preferably having been involved with either: Conference, England / Scotland or GB) individuals, who can excel in the one of the available roles.

The BUIHA head office is based at Ice Sheffield, and thus all GBU training camps will be held there, during the daytime (i.e. 7am-4pm), on Fridays, throughout the year.

Expenses (e.g. travel, accommodation and subsistence (if applicable and agreed in advance)), will be covered by the BUIHA. Notably, personnel appointed in any of the aforementioned roles are not automatically guaranteed to travel with a GBU team to the WUGs (subject to team entry).

The BUIHA are also keen to develop BUIHA Club coaches. Individuals interested in developing their skills and experience, will have the opportunity to attend GBU camps, where they can assist the GBU coaches in the delivery of both on-ice and off-ice sessions, with the further possibility of assisting at BUIHA Camps (Summer - UK and Winter - Finland).

For further details and to submit your expression of interest, email: GBU Director - Simon Hopkins

Please state the role you are interested in, include 200 words (maximum), detailing why you believe you are suitable for the role, and attach your ice hockey CV (all in pdf format).

    Deadline: Sunday 18th February 2018.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview on 9th March (Ice Sheffield).
