London Dragons

1 - London Dragons New Entry

W: 10D: 0L: 0GF: 53GA: 20GD: +33PP%: 40.0PK%: 93.3
Pts: Kanerva (28) G: Kanerva (16) A: Kanerva (12) SAV%: Tourenne (0.96)
London Dragons
Obvious choice really for number one after their playoff win. In this game its all about how you finish and London Dragons have it in spades. Finish chances - check. Finish games well - check. Finnish Captain - check. Drunken Finnish 'Coach' and Mentor - well I think half the internet knows that is a big fat check. With solid players across the board this team is a force to be reckoned with.
St Andrews Typhoons

2 - St Andrews Typhoons Up 2

W: 7D: 0L: 3GF: 52GA: 28GD: +24PP%: 34.6PK%: 60.0
Pts: Hauger (17) G: McCarthy (8) A: Matons (9) SAV%: Burrows (1.00)
St Andrews Typhoons
In past seasons I have always considered putting the playoff runner up at number 2 due to the emotional hangover, or the fact they bottled it in the big time. On this occasion I cannot do that when a depleted St. Andrews came within inches of taking the game to penalty shots against a solid London team. Star man Chase McCarthy looked like he is back to the form that earned him plaudits in his nationals debut.
Southampton Spitfires

3 - Southampton Spitfires Down 1

W: 8D: 0L: 1GF: 80GA: 25GD: +55PP%: 35.3PK%: 91.7
Pts: Holeska (22) G: Holeska (10) A: Holeska (12) SAV%: Ronai (0.87)
Southampton Spitfires
We all know what the Spitfires can produce at the business end of the season and this year will unlikely be any different. They had a bit of a shock against a hot Oxford team last year and others now know they are beatable. That said its once bitten twice shy. There is the small matter of Nick Ivill challenging Stuart Mogg to a cake eating comp in a bid to slow him down too.
Edinburgh Eagles

4 - Edinburgh Eagles Up 3

W: 8D: 0L: 4GF: 56GA: 47GD: +9PP%: 50.0PK%: 63.2
Pts: Selles (13) G: Selles (8) A: Henderson (7) SAV%: Amodeo (1.00)
Edinburgh Eagles
After a truly woeful 2015-16 season the Eagles are back to their impressive ways. They seemed to have put the tailend of the season pumping they received from St. Andrews behind them and moved on with an impressive display against the very same opponents in a hostile varsity encounter. Their record matches the Typhoons this season and they cannot be counted out.
Cardiff Redhawks

5 - Cardiff Redhawks New Entry

W: 6D: 1L: 3GF: 61GA: 43GD: +18PP%: 14.8PK%: 58.3
Pts: Basnett (23) G: Price (13) A: Basnett (13) SAV%: McGirr (0.91)
Cardiff Redhawks
Some Hawks are not meant to be up this high and Dave 'Webmaster' Rogers and Co may be having a nosebleed with a fifth placed ranking, but it is totally merited. I have ranked them ahead of the Cambridge Blues based on their head to head ranking and Cardiff having that desire to show they belong at this level. Remember they have some silverware with their not made up varsity win.
Cambridge Blues

6 - Cambridge Blues Down 5

W: 4D: 1L: 3GF: 49GA: 27GD: +22PP%: 27.0PK%: 88.6
Pts: Willsby (19) G: Beranek (9) A: Willsby (12) SAV%: Rosseau (1.00)
Cambridge Blues
If big Jaason was weeping tears of joy last year he might just be weeping now at his teams chances. They have not been the dominant force they once were, but it could all come good at Nationals for this team. They might be riding high off their varsity win rolling into Nationals, but with the quality they face this year might prove too much.
Sheffield Bears

7 - Sheffield Bears Down 2

W: 4D: 0L: 4GF: 38GA: 33GD: +5PP%: 33.3PK%: 71.4
Pts: Martin (13) G: Bradbury (8) A: Bolton (6) SAV%: Steventon (0.92)
Sheffield Bears
It may seem frankly absurd to see the home town Bears so low in the rankings, but with a 50/50 record they do not have the numbers to get a higher ranking heading to this year's Nationals. As ever the Bears come with a warning.... they are the home town team and if they didn't already they now have a point to prove with such a low rank.
Oxford University Blues

8 - Oxford University Blues Down 2

W: 4D: 0L: 5GF: 63GA: 46GD: +17PP%: 36.1PK%: 71.9
Pts: Wenig (16) G: Deagle (12) A: Lacombe (10) SAV%: Main (1.00)
Oxford University Blues
The defending champions do not come as the bookies favourites (#askpaddy) to retain. Bizarrely the Blues have a positive goal difference despite only being 3-5. That anomaly could be a result of their big three scorers in Lacombe, Wenig and Thompson. That said if you can't get it done in the close games you will not win Nationals.
Nottingham Mavericks

9 - Nottingham Mavericks Down 6

W: 3D: 0L: 5GF: 32GA: 33GD: -1PP%: 31.8PK%: 47.4
Pts: Watson (14) G: Hopkins (7) A: Kallio (7) SAV%: Hodgkins (0.89)
Nottingham Mavericks
People take their shoes off as they hate the Mavs. I am not sure this team is shoeless, but they have been caught with their pants down a few times this season including a season ending defeat on the road to Kings. The inconsistent Mavs will no doubt be upset by their poor ranking, but they know what to do if they don't agree... play a good bit better.
Northumbria Kings A

10 - Northumbria Kings A Down 2

W: 3D: 0L: 7GF: 50GA: 57GD: -7PP%: 25.0PK%: 83.3
Pts: Perrie (29) G: Perrie (23) A: Ivill (16) SAV%: Brooks (0.87)
Northumbria Kings A
The Kings find themselves on the way to Division 2 Checking next year after poor season. They do have some good talent in the likes of Perrie and Glasby. They even have people good at riding on the talent's coat tails like Nick Ivill, but they also have a tendency to start slow and then wind up still in the bar when their first game is due to face off on the Sunday. You have to think the Kings are gonna get 'all shook up.' Eh Thank You Very Much.
