Cambridge Blues

1 - Cambridge Blues Up 1

W: 6D: 2L: 1GF: 31GA: 21GD: +10PP%: 9.5PK%: 83.3
Pts: Gagnon (12) G: Gagnon (8) A: Beranek (6) SAV%: Orvomaa (0.93)
Cambridge Blues
Sky Blue is the colour and sky high is their ceiling. This team comes into Nationals after a victory in what has to be one of the best contested playoff games in Division 1 in quite some time. This team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to 5-3 up and even when Nottingham bagged their fourth Tourenne and the D shut up shop. There is a great spirit in the team and with real game breaking talent there is no reason to doubt that they can double down this weekend.
Southampton Spitfires

2 - Southampton Spitfires Up 8

W: 4D: 0L: 4GF: 58GA: 30GD: +28PP%: 19.2PK%: 95.7
Pts: Hall (19) G: Becker (10) A: Hall (10) SAV%: Moravek (0.94)
Southampton Spitfires
Too long have the Spitfires flew under the radar in the rankings. If the Spitfires A + are in Tier 1 then they didn't come to nose dive out in the group stages. I would have ranked them number one, but I am not sure who will start in goal for them with the Magic One being tied. That said I looked up their roster (normally I just lay it for you all to play it out) and my star of last year's champs Stuart Mogg is back, so this could be a repeat for these fellas.
Nottingham Mavericks

3 - Nottingham Mavericks Up 3

W: 9D: 1L: 1GF: 80GA: 28GD: +52PP%: 23.1PK%: 84.0
Pts: Gale (47) G: Gale (30) A: Gale (17) SAV%: Porter (0.91)
Nottingham Mavericks
Let's be honest Nottingham and Jay Porter will be pleased that they do not have to come over the @BUIHAProblems jinx again, as I have tipped them for the top so many times before and every time its not been on the cards. They will be licking their wounds from the one that got away at the weekend, as they looked dead certain to come away with the title, but it wasn't to be. However, I was impressed with the discipline they showed throughout the match to keep them in it to the end. If they can play with that intensity and discipline then we could see the GALEs of change in their fortunes.
St Andrews Typhoons

4 - St Andrews Typhoons Down 1

W: 8D: 1L: 2GF: 59GA: 29GD: +30PP%: 22.7PK%: 100.0
Pts: Matons (17) G: McCarthy (8) A: Matons (10) SAV%: Goodtzov (0.93)
St Andrews Typhoons
Chase McCarthy!!!!!! Been needing to get that out the system since he lit up last year's Nationals and that being said he is not even the top scorer on their team. This team comes in after their first season in Division 1 saw them finish just behind Nottingham and they even managed to tie them at home. Both men in the twine are solid enough, so they have a reasonable shot at progressing to the semis once again.
Sheffield Bears

5 - Sheffield Bears Down 1

W: 6D: 0L: 4GF: 64GA: 32GD: +32PP%: 26.7PK%: 70.0
Pts: Ho (27) G: Ho (16) A: Martin (16) SAV%: Humm (0.96)
Sheffield Bears
I've put the Bears right in the middle, but there is no denying that the Bears franchise has an edge that others (apart from Imperial) in this Nationals term with two wins in four tiers to date. After Nottingham's Ed Gale the next three top scorers in Division 1 are all Bears and when you can afford to leave people like Carratt (I felt a little sick typing that) in the C team then you must have something in Bear cave that we haven't seen yet.
Oxford University Blues

6 - Oxford University Blues Up 3

W: 5D: 0L: 3GF: 42GA: 19GD: +23PP%: 9.1PK%: 90.3
Pts: Woods (15) G: Woods (8) A: Anstett (10) SAV%: Lyons (0.92)
Oxford University Blues
Am I reading this right??? Did the Uni Blues beat the Blues on the same day they had lost to the Cambridge Blues? Deary me that was a lot of Blues. In any event the Oxford Uni Blues come into Nationals with a bit of swagger having topped their home town rivals this season in Division 1 and having only lost one game in 2016 to date against the Division 1 Winners. Hopefully they can bring more than six players as all their Women's team got cup tied carrying the Vikings at the weekend.
Edinburgh Eagles

7 - Edinburgh Eagles Down 2

W: 6D: 0L: 8GF: 54GA: 62GD: -8PP%: 23.1PK%: 72.7
Pts: Selles (16) G: Selles (10) A: Selles (6) SAV%: Ricketti (0.91)
Edinburgh Eagles
Former coach, turned BUIHA Lead Commentator Rambo will be shedding a tear reading this low ranking, but to be fair I would have ranked them lower than this had it not been for their third period rally vs St Andrews. Watching online it looked like they were the Washington Nationals in that game until the third in which they flipped a switch and started playing some solid hockey. However, they are not looking good coming in off back to back defeats, so as Bob Dylan said the Times They Are A-Changin and unfortunately for the Eagles it has not been the good kind of change.
Northumbria Kings

8 - Northumbria Kings Down 1

W: 3D: 0L: 8GF: 45GA: 71GD: -26PP%: 9.7PK%: 76.9
Pts: Perrie (13) G: Perrie (9) A: Towns (7) SAV%: Forester (0.87)
Northumbria Kings
Nick Ivill please still give me a cake! This team could have had the seventh spot, but no higher. They would have earned that after dominating the Eagles 7-0 and finishing with a massive win of Manchester. For the Kings however it has only been a home victory against the Eagles and a couple of wins over the hapless Metrostars (as opposed to the Hapgood Metrostars B) that they can look back upon favourably. Still despite not having the best season they have talent in guys like Adam 'what is he doing in goal' Perrie, which should see them cause some teams a few headaches. I am afraid that I don't fancy the Kings of the North being crowned this weekend, but I do see a wedding for them... it's Red.
UCL Yetis

9 - UCL Yetis New Entry

W: 2D: 1L: 6GF: 26GA: 45GD: -19PP%: 16.1PK%: 83.3
Pts: Tremblay (12) G: Fox (6) A: Tremblay (7) SAV%: Sjostrom (0.86)
UCL Yetis
The Abominable Snowmen have been Bomb-able Snowmen in Division 1 this year with only one win to their name in a season that sees them finish bottom of the pile in the South. That said they could have been more highly if i had based this on their efforts at the start of the season, which saw them tie the Cambridge Blues, but they finish with nothing to cheer about in 2016 except that draw and a win over the Dragons, who have misplaced their wings and will be staying in London this year (a bit like the start of Reign of Fire I would expect).
